Sabotaging Success?
October 26, 2008 – 8:35 am
Are we asking too much, are we being greedy and stubborn? Shouldn’t we be happy with just getting by, and being comfortable? Well, no, and yes.
when we write our lists, it’s a preference. We’re stating to the Universe what we would like to have. But you don’t stop living your life. Even the Universe needs a minute or so to get you the New Car, and the New House, and the Professional Basketball Team. What you’re really asking about is detachment.
hat’s one of the main keys to this whole thing, is detachment, which is giving up control. You should be absolutely happy and content with having a shirt on your back and a smile on your face, but there’s nothing wrong with asking for very specific things that you want. If you want, like I often do, a burger with whole wheat bun and pickles and onions and lettuce and tomatoes
and mustard and mayonaise cooked medium rare, you ask for it. (Orat least I ask for it.) But if they’re out of pickles, the world doesn’t end. I just enjoy the heck out of my burger.
Same goes for the job. One thing is to remember how you ask as well. Saying a job is close to your house is different than saying it is on the corner of Main and Broadway. Both are specifics, but
you do want to write the parameters so that you’re not limiting your options. It’s always a great idea to write “it’s equivalent or better” on your requests.
The Universe knows your situation better than you. Ask for more, but be ok with whatever happens
